4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site’s core functionality (e.g., loading the interactive map). These do not require consent.
  • Analytics/performance cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., Google Analytics or similar). These are only set with your consent.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use third-party services that process data on our behalf or independently, such as:

  • Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) to measure site traffic and usage patterns.
  • Hosting providers to host and deliver the Site.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these third parties for further information on how they handle data:

  • Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. International Data Transfers

Guernsey has been granted “adequacy” status by the European Commission and by the UK, meaning it is recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection. Some of our third-party service providers (e.g., analytics or mapping providers) may nonetheless process data outside Guernsey, including in the EEA, the UK, or the United States. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or reliance on an applicable adequacy decision, in accordance with Guernsey Data Protection Law.

7. Data Retention

We retain analytics data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, typically in line with our analytics provider’s default retention settings (e.g., 14–26 months for Google Analytics, configurable by us). Enquiry correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve your query, unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Under Guernsey Data Protection Law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”), in certain circumstances
  • Restrict processing, in certain circumstances
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Data portability, where technically feasible
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at marinas@digimap.gg

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Guernsey’s data protection regulator:
